City Once Again Refused Help on River Flooding Problems

8/27/2025

Last week, the City was notified by a Team Rubicon that they will not be performing operations of any kind at the location of the North Fork of the Red River Bridge or the riverbed.  We were informed in an email that due to liability reasons, they could not use heavy equipment in the riverbed.

The City has also discovered that the US Army Corps of Engineers does not require a 404 permit to to perform river channel work both 50 feet upstream and 50 feet downstream to remove silt and debris.

At this point, the City is once again out of options on who to contact for help as the river is in the County and the bridge belongs to TxDot.

List are below are some links to contact local and state officials, TXDot, and the Army Corps of Engineers.

TxDot Amarillo District

Governor Greg Abbott
