Pictures Needed of North Fork of the Red River Bridge
1/3/2025
The City has had meetings lately with officials from several different entities including TxDot, the Panhandle representative from the Office of the Governer, and the Texas Division of Emergency Management regarding the flooding issues the City is dealing with from the river running through town during heavy rains upstream. This morning we met with representatives from TDEM which included the Regional Mitigation Coordinator, the Regional Voluntary Agency Liason office, and the Gray County Liason Officer. They looked at the bridge clearance, the culverts under Highway 273, the wastewater treatment plant, and all the places that experience flooding due to the silt in the riverbed, and it was stated that we have a big problem. What we are needing are older pictures of the bridge showing the clearance when it was approximately ten feet from the bottom of the riverbed, pictures of the old bridge, the new bridge after it was built, or anything showing how wide the riverbed used to be. You can email them to cityoflefors@yahoo.com or bring them by City Hall so they can be scanned or copied. Please share so we can get these as soon as possible. Thank you.
